KARMIEL WORKS

The Beit Hakerem Valley is a culturally diverse region in the north of Israel. It is made up of Arab and Jewish villages widely dispersed with the main place of gather being the “BIG” outdoor shopping mall located in the industrial area of Karmiel. The rest of the industrial area has services, factories, a bus and new train station, and empty space with minimal existing transportation. The intervention rezones the industrial area into three quarters: the campus, mixed-

use, and industrial quarter with a scenic green trail flowing throughout. The new campus buildings have dimensionality, hierarchy, transitions, and a clear flow with a variety of open spaces. Added paths contribute to more efficient circulation that consider people arriving with public transportation. Along the green path pastoral open space is developed with commerce, and restaurants while the building facades along the main axis are interactive with the street.
